History

Global service and travel to Costa Rica are the foundation of this company. True Nature Education first sprouted out of the True Nature Community, which was co-founded by Joshua and Luna Canter in 2003. The community, based out of the village of La Florida, Costa Rica, was 30 acres of jungle overlooking the Pacific Ocean. True Nature's first hosted program was an abroad college course from Prescott College, the university from which Joshua graduated.

Throughout the first 5 years, True Nature's  programs were held on property of True Nature Community.
In 2009, True Nature began to expand its offerings throughout the country of Costa Rica, expanding its locations and its the diversity of programs. The True Nature course catalog now includes programs in Yoga and Wellness, Service Learning, Biology, Nutrition, Permaculture, and more.

During their time in Costa Rica, Joshua and Luna also co-founded the CREER Service Organization. CREER, which means “to believe” in Spanish, was an offering of gratitude from Joshua and Luna, for the incredible support, generosity, and hospitality that the native Costa Ricans provided upon their arrival in the county and their village. Community, Education, and Service have been at the core of True Nature’s values since its inception and continue to be the driving force of our operation.
